I suspect these entries represent my keyboard and mouse because I found another entry for the laptop lid - Device Manager > System Devices > ACPI Lid. But I tried it with a wired mouse and got the same results. I should mention I am using a logitech MK540 wireless mouse and keyboard. On the Power Management tab there is an entry “Allow this device to wake the computer”. When I click Properties they each have a Power Management tab. I have three entries in Device Manager > Human Interface Devices > USB Input Device. But I want to set the laptop up to wake from a Sleep by lifting the lid and/or hitting a key or moving the mouse.Īfter doing some research I learned about Power Management tabs in Device Manager. I realize I will have to hit the power button after a shutdown.

Now I am attempting to make the best of my situation. I just finished a Bleeping Computer case “Want to start laptop using docking station” where I made sure there was no way to manipulate the starting of this laptop with a docking station. It is impossible to open the laptop under the monitor stand to get to the power button to turn it on or wake it from Sleep. Is there another docking station that I could use with this PC that would have this feature?Įdited by hamluis, 27 January 2020 - 07:26 AM. They said they would check with the product people and email me with any options. I did an online chat with Dell and they didn’t know of a way with this laptop. It connects to the docking station with a USB. That laptop had a connecting slot on the bottom of it, this one doesn’t. In the past I used an e-dock and there was a button on it that booted the laptop. I can’t figure out a way turn it on without opening the laptop. My problem is turning the laptop on requires me to press the power button inside the laptop and keep it open while I am using it. I have an external monitor sitting on a monitor stand with the laptop slid under the stand. I have a docking stations Dell D3100 that it is connected to. I have a Dell Inspirunning Windows 10 1903.
